Current Housing Programs Available to Tribal Members

Home Improvement Assistance Program Policy
Application

The purpose of this policy is to provide Timbisha Shoshone Tribe Tribal members with a Home Improvement Assistance Program, in the area of rehabilitation of their home within the jurisdiction of the Tribe.  The types of assistance are limited to necessary repairs that will protect the integrity of the home, i.e., roofs, plumbing, electrical, flooring, weatherization, siding, concrete, etc.

Move-In Assistance Program Policy
Application

This Move-In Assistance Program is a one-time financial assistance program developed to prevent homeless situations with the Timbisha Shoshone Tribal members. This program can assist with the security deposits and required rent to move into a residence. If you are homeless and are disabled, an elder, single parent, and/or are low income, you might be eligible to receive this assistance.

Down-Payment Assistance Program Policy
Application

This policy sets forth the procedures to be used by the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe in the administration of the Down-Payment Assistance Program to ensure full compliance and equitable management of the Timbisha Shoshone Tribal Housing Program. The Tribe may make a direct grant to the Tribal member for the initial Down Payment for a tribal member home. The minimal amount of Down Payment Assistance will be provided to the Tribal member in order to assist the Tribal member with a successful home loan.

Senior Rental Assistance Program Policy
Application

The Tribe is providing this Senior Monthly Rental Assistance program to assist the Senior Tribal members with their immediate housing needs. The Senior Tribal member must demonstrate that they can live safety, independently and with the applied assistance will be financially able to occupy a residence with the available support services provided by the Tribe and local support services. It is critical to the success of this program that upon the selection of a residence that the tribal member occupies the unit within 90 days of Tribal acceptance to the Senior Monthly Rental Assistance Program and occupies that unit on an annual basis, unless the necessity to move is based upon physical needs, tenant ailments, financial benefits, and or any reason not within the tenant’s control (i.e., eviction, sale of residence, etc.)

Student Assistance Program Policy
Application

The Tribe is providing this Student Monthly Rental Assistance Program to assist the Student Tribal member with their continuing education housing needs. The Student Tribal member must demonstrate that they are living off reservation in order to attend a higher education facility (trade school, vocational school, community college, university, etc.) is a full-time student. It is critical to the success of this program that upon the selection of a residence the Tribal member occupies the unit within 90 days of Tribal acceptance to the Student Monthly Rental Assistance Program and occupies that unit for the entire term of the school year.

Tribe Home Acquisition Program Policy
Application

The TTHAP allows the Tribal member to pre-qualify for the purchase of a home with the Timbisha Tribe. This program allows the low-income qualified Tribal member family to select an existing home that meets the criteria of the Tribal member family of the TTHAP, and to request the Tribe to purchase that home and re-sell that home to the qualifying Tribal member family.
